Let’s talk summer vintage fashion. Nothing screams summer to me than going all-out vintage, whether it be long flowy bohemian-style dresses or a cute crocheted crop top paired with flared jeans. I absolutely love hippie boho styles as it’s so easy and comfortable to wear, with my personal favourite decades being the 1960’s and 1970’s.
Here are a few of my favourite style icons from some of these eras to inspire your European style summer wardrobe.

Jane Birkin is the ultimate French girl style icon, with her bohemian fashion and French girl hair and not to mention her iconic basket bag, she always looked effortlessly cool.
![Brigitte Bardot style](https://i0.wp.com/whimsicalwhatever.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/fashion-2014-12-brigitte-bardot-repetto-ballet-slippers-main.jpg?resize=682%2C1024&ssl=1)

Brigitte Bardot is a classic French icon. Her whole look screamed sexy but was easily accessible to most. With the classic Bardot style tops we see in shops today, and iconic cigarette trousers paired with ballet pumps, she just oozed classic French girl. This woman just had ‘IT’, she even made striped Breton tops look cool.
![Audrey Hepburn](https://i0.wp.com/whimsicalwhatever.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/b447cd9260553a2ae69974d14a891811.jpg?resize=735%2C915&ssl=1)

And here we have the one and only Audrey Hepburn. I absolutely love her style, it’s classic, it’s chic, it should be easy, but it isn’t! Audrey’s style is my go to if I’m looking for a nice simple silhouette without too much fuss. Her style translates well today and is flattering on most people. What I like most about Audrey is that there are so many outfits you can try to emulate, from her easy casual look to her more formal looks, whether your going for a bike ride, a picnic or to a formal occasion there is always something you can take from Audrey.

Yet another French icon, Françoise Hardy was as famous for her style as she was for her music. Part of the 1960s Yé-Yé movement, her influence on fashion can be seen far and wide, from being muse to Yves Saint Laurent to her song (a personal favourite) Tous Les Garçons et Les Filles inspiring Rei Kawakubo’s brand name Comme des Garçons to that famous Paco Rabanne dress made of gold.

Two of my current favourite style icons of today are Jeanne Damas and Ambre Deveaux. These French girls really show you how to do classic and classic vintage. They have a huge presence on Instagram, their styles are amazing, and they really do give you plenty of ideas on how to create certain looks and them being French girls, they have the iconic effortless French girl hair, of course! Le sigh…
