A little post compiling a few of my favourite things of late…
Red Mary Jane Shoes
Mary Jane shoes have been in vogue for a little while now, although these classic shoes have never really gone out of style. I bought this red pair a few months ago and they have been one of my favourites this autumn. Factor in their colour (I’m more than a little obsessed with anything red right now) and the double strap buckle, I’m more than a little in love.
I always wore Mary Jane’s as a little girl for school, and for many women this was one of our first encounters with the style. From their popularity in the 1920s to the likes of Jane Birkin, Twiggy and latterly Alexa Chung all donning them, their frequent recurrence throughout the decades make Mary Jane’s undoubtedly the It-girl of the shoe world.
H&M Sunglasses
I love kooky sunglasses. I think it’s stemmed from one of the many times I found myself in Inverness, Scotland waiting for the coach to bring us to Ullapool (to then catch the ferry to the Isle of Lewis, where my mum and I lived at the time), and part of the time we whiled away was spent in TK Maxx. There, I found these amazing kooky sunglasses (at least, I thought they were), but, being a pre-teen at the time and out of pocket money, I couldn’t convince my mum to buy them for me. Now, however, I’m making up for it, and this pair I stumbled on in H&M (while nowhere near as eccentric as the one I left behind in Inverness) is contributing to filling the void from 10+ years ago.
